I just read your note Rock, about the diamonds in Montana and the mention of Canadian diamonds caught my eye. I've read about diamonds coming out of Canada. Are they really a big market? I read that the diamonds in Canada are whiter and brighter. Should I be asking jewelers to show me Canadian stones?

There are some Canadian Diamond mines. You still need to shop the same way as any other diamond by the criteria of the individual stone. We've had some very nice stones from Canada that were ideal cut and hearts and arrows. Most will be noted on the lab report if they are of Candian origin. If you want to see what a Canadian diamond AGS lab report looks like, here is an example. You will notice that it is noted under the comment section and it has a maple leaf inscribed on the stone. There are some other ones as well with a polar bear for example.

Diamonds from Canada are increasingly available. Many market the Canadian cut diamonds. They are no better or worse than diamonds found elsewhere. A diamonds real beauty is revealed while in the cutting process. That is where I would put the emphasis.
