Does anyone know about the Holloway Cut Advisor? I run into it at various internet sites. Apparantly it helps determine diamond value? Is this true? And more importantly- is it accurate? Thank you for any help.

There was another thread posted recently about the Holloway Cut Advisor (HCA).

Okay. I read the posts you linked me to. So what does that say about the sites that advertise the HCA as a way to judge diamonds? Are they dishonest or just stupid? I see a lot of them out there!

A jeweler who claims to like HCA is neither dishonest nor stupid.

HCA is *one* of *many* ways to judge the cut of a diamond. Yes, there appear to be flaws in it, but then again there is no industry concensus on a perfect method.

Personally, I would just use the HCA as one of many ways to screen different diamonds. Ultimately, any buying decision should be made with your eyes not with a bunch of numbers.

:o HCA is simply a tool to once again confirm the quality of what a customer is purchasing. However, it will most likely only be beneficial to someone that is looking to buy a IDEAL cut round brilliant diamond. That's my 2 cents....

The problem with calling an inaccurate grading system a tool is that, why use something when it is inaccurate? We are the ones that posted it flaws and they have not been able to argue any of the 10 points of why it doesn't work correctly because they are all true and they know it.
You can't judge a diamond by a few number averages. The tools ( Sarin ) that even measure the stones are not that accurate. Add to that, that most of the facets aren't taken into account.
It's really all common sense and nothing rocket science about it's flaws. Here is a link to our findings. If they could have argued these valid points they would have. Mostlly all they did was attack us personally for pointing out the flaws.
