Settings for Larger Round cuts

I've got a round brilliant 2.14 carat H SI stone that has a diameter of 8.30mm. I'd like to place it in a 4mm or 5mm wide Cathedral setting but have been told Cathedral settings are meant for princess/radiant and emerald cuts. Is that true? If so, what other settings could help off set the diameter of the stone so the ring looks more balanced?
