Hi,
Recently I have purchased a diamond at a jewelry store located in the mall.
Pear shape,
0.51 ct.
color F.
clarity : SI2
I have paid $2,500 for this diamond. It is GIA certified diamond, but I din't receive the certificate from my jeweller till now.
Is it a good deal... Well I don't think so because after buying it I have surfed through internet and have seen a lot of diamonds with the same charecters for $1800.
I doubt whether they have charged about $1000 for GIA certificate.
Hoping to see your reply soon.

I'm by no means an expert, but I've spent a LOT of time in the last couple months doing research for my own diamond purchase, and I think you could do better on price. From what I can tell, it's better to avoid mall jewelers because it's pretty hard to get a good (fair) deal at such places.

I'd be particularly worried about why the jeweler didn't give you the GIA certificate at the time of purchase. That strikes me as awfully suspicious. You might consider having an independent lab check the stone against the certificate to make sure you received what you intended to buy.
