I've been doing some shopping around and have come across name brand cuts (Elexes, Hearts for Eternity, Hearts on Fire, etc). What makes these any different between one another and what is different between name brand diamonds and non-branded diamonds?
Name brands?

Most of the time the only difference between branded and non-branded diamonds is the inscription of a brand name on the girdle edge of the diamond which costs the dealers about an extra $5.00 while the diamond is passing through the labs... Then each brand charges a premium on the stone over what it would be if it were non-branded depending on the value they assume their name to be worth, or based upon how much it is costing them to build a brand... In our opinion, smart consumers look past the various brand names and focus on the characteristics of the individual stones and buy the stone that meets their selection criteria regardless of whether the stone is branded or not. We don't know about you, but we don't see the point of paying for somebody else's name if the product is not really any better than a non-branded item of comparable quality. We're not talking prescription drugs here, we're talking diamonds and diamonds are a measured commodity for which the value is determined by basic factors: Cut (proportions, polish and symmetry); Carat Weight; Color; and Clarity... That's it folks
