I "bought" (haven't actually paid in full yet) the following:

princess cut
1.01 ct
E color
VS2 clarity

When I went to pick it up, I noticed something when I was looking at the side of the stone.... looked like a series of brown specs. When looking through the loop, I could barely see it through the table, but it was clearly visable 3 ft away when looking at it from the side (no magnification). The sales lady didn't know what it was and the diamond guy was out for an hour... later she called me back and said they were inclusions and that the clarity rating from GIA was based on viewing it from the top of the stone...

My question.... is this reasonable or am I being "duped". I really don't think I'm going to buy this diamond anyway, because I don't want to see visable inclusions, but I'd like to have someone else's opinion on this issue.

your best bet is to go to a higher quality ,like vs1-vvs2 those you will not be able to see any inclusions.
maybe drop to an F color VS1 you should be able to get the same look without the visible inclusions.(e-f very slight color change not noticiable)
