Hello everyone...I'm new here and I'm sure this topic has been discussed, but I've been searching old forums and still can't get a solid answer. My fiance and I are getting a custom made pave engagement ring, and we cannot decide between white gold and platinum. I know platinum costs a lot more. Our jeweler will do either, but recommends 14K WG. He says it is "more forgiving" and will look new longer, especially b/c it can be rhodium replated. Although this sounds good, I don't know if I want to deal with the maintenance. I also here that polishing/replating makes the ring lose some of it's metal. I hear conflicting opinions as to whether WG or plat. gets scratched more easily. PLEASE HELP! Any opinions, pos/neg from people who have had both for a while?
Thank you!
