Help comparing price on two Princess cut diamond earings

I'm looking to buy a pair od diamond earings for my girlfriend for Xmas.

1. 1/2 ctw E VVS 14k white gold $649.99 + $15 for shipping from bestgem.com

2. 1/2 ctw H/G VS Platinum $720 - $75 = $645 plus free shipping from Mondera.com

Which option is better, platinum setting or a little better color and quality? Also, opinion on company that is selling them.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
