I'm trying to decide between a GIA and EGL certified diamond. Everything I've read says go with the GIA. Here are the stats. I spoke to the broker selling the EGL. He said he feels the color is G. He said the clarity may be SI3 but there is only a white inclusions that can't be seen w/o a 10X loop. Any suggestions?

EGL $4,899
1.48
G/ SI2
D% 62.8
T% 58
Med faceted
polish VG
symm VG
Flor None

GIA $ 5,400
1.40
G/ SI2
D% 61.9
T% 58
TN-Med
polish G
Symm G
Flor None

I think that you should go with the g.i.a as they are in most cases are the strictest , in their grading.

p.s
(did you check and compared prices??)

Thanks for the feed back. I've done plenty of price comparisons. The more research I do the more I change my standards.

I have heard 2 different stories when it comes to SI2 diamonds. One person told me you can't see inclusions without a 10 loupe and someone else told me that MOST SI2 diamonds have inclusions visible to the naked eye.. Which is it? I am thinking now of going SI1 b/c of this info.

Most E.G.L si2 can be seen with the naked eye not to say that there are many that are not.most G.I.A si2 should not be seen with the naked eye.

If you can upgrade to an si1 you should be on the safe side.
