I'm looking at a round 1.32ct diamond. It is a SI2 G. It has Very Good for polish and Good for Symmetry. It is 59.6% depth and 61% table. It is GIA certified. The jewler wants $6,500 for it. Is this reasonable?

Thanks!

I am by NO MEANS an expert on diamond pricing, I just thought that I would share a price that I found online for soemthing similar to what you are looking for.

1.31 Carats
GIA Cert
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry Good
Depth: 60.5%
Table: 59%
Color: G
Clarity: SI2

Price: $5706

I am in a very similar situation to you at the moment trying to balance the factors of buying locally where I can "touch" the diamond, or running all these numbers and percentages, etc. through all the internet sites. So, like I said earlier, I dont claim to know much, I just was trying to be helpful and post a diamond that I found online that was similar to the one you are looking at. Hope that helps some.

You should shop and compare, and there is something to be said for being able to *see* more than one diamond at a time. You could easily invest much more yourself in returning diamonds and paying for shipping and insurance and appraisals. There are costs involved in viewing more than a diamond paper. :)
A diamond ring is a large investment and probably one of the largest purchases that you'll make in your lifetime. So is a house. You wouldn't purchase a house without seeing it either would you? :)
Also you have to take things like professional service into the equation. Can they also offer you many styles of mountings and set the stone for you as well and there is always the service after the sale too. :) Don't forget a possible lifetime upgrade too. :)
