Though I'm happy with my center stone, I've decided to upgrade my trillions (which I added later to my original ring.) The two trillions I'm replacing are approx. J-K in color and are .52 tw. The new stones will be F-G, SI of the same size. The jeweler quoted me between $600 and $700 to trade it in. Does this sound reasonable to anyone in the know.

HI Ssimor,

Can you please clarify the following so I may offer my advice?

How much are you getting paid for your current stones? (Or, in other words, what are your .52 carat Trilliants worth to this particular jeweler?)

Most importantly, have the jeweler give you, in writing, what he/she is paying you for your stones along with the price of the SI stones.

Thanks,

Mauricio,

Thanks so much for answering me. I don't know yet what he's offering - he will remove the stones and take another look. What do you think the value of two trillions - .52 tw with a rather low quality color is worth?? Conversely, what would the same size trillions with a F-G color be worth?

Thanks in advance,
Susan

Hi Susan,

You're very welcome. I'll glad I can help.
To answer your question, for example, a J color (slightly yellow) SI1 clarity Trilliant @ 1/4 carat would be around $250 each.
As for a F VS2 of very good quality, you'll be looking at around $ 395 each.
And for a G SI1, it would be around $350 each.
I hope this helps clarify the prices for you.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
