I have read that some jewelers negotiate on the price of engagement rings. We have been to several places and they said that they will take off the sales tax. This is about $300.00 or so. Does this sound reasonable, or should we push our luck?
Question about price negotiation

DCooper,
Actually, you're saving on just the taxes, which helps. However, the key is to negotiate on the price of the stone. Most retail shops would do this because they already start at a high price, compared to online or private sources.
You should also push your luck, because the worst that can happen is that the jeweler would say no. That's when you move on to the next 10 or so.
