I am in the process of selecting a platinum diamond ring for my soon to be fiance and a wedding band to match.

I have a college ring that is yellow gold w/ antique finish. I intend on wearing the college ring the rest of my life. I have two conflicting trains of thought: 1. Get a platinum band to match my wife's band, it will be on the opposite hand from the yellow ring and will look fine. 2. Get a platinum/gold ring, it will complement the college ring on the other hand nicely but it will not be the same as my future wife's band. Or option 3, which I'm not crazy about is to get a solid yellow gold band.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

People are mixing yellow and white even on the same hand. Go with the platinum band if that's what you like. The college ring on the other hand will look just fine.
