My sister has asked me to sell her engagement ring for her and I need to find out what is a reasonable amount of money to expect to get out of it? It is a 1.0 carat marquise, color G, Clarity VS2, depth 54%, table 58%, girdle medium faceted and polished, culet small, polish very good, symmetry good, fluorescence none, general appearance very good, mounting is Platinum with two small bands of 18k yellow gold. The mounting has 6 princess cut diamonds on each side Channel set with color VS1/color G, total weight .56 carats. The replacement cost was estimated $11,300.00 (marquise @ $8,500.00 and mounting with .56 Princess @ $2,800.00).

This information is from a diamond grading report she got from a jeweler where she lives (in another state from me). On the front of this paper it says "Record and Appraisal of jewelry..." but inside in the fine print it states it is not an appraisal. This leads to another question I have - will I need another sort of appraisal in order to sell it? This one has the jewelers name and jewelry store on it, but doesn't mention any other credentials or GIA stuff.

I am basically looking for a general guideline as to what % of replacement cost used diamond jewelry sells for. What is a fair amount of money to expect?

Thanks for any info!
